Today, we went to the funeral for Jeanne's cousin, Nicole, who passed away on Friday after her car skidded off of an icy road and ran into a tree.
Our hearts and prayers go out to her parents, Mary Lou and John and to her sister Danielle. Tragically, this is not the first child that Mary Lou and John have had to bury. A little more than 15 years ago, they lost their three youngest teenage children in a car accident - also a result of bad weather.
I have always had the greatest admiration for Mary Lou and John. Somehow, they were able to recover from their earlier tragedy and have been able to continue on with their lives as truly happy people. They have always been an inspiration to me - knowing that if they can survive what they went through, then certainly I should also be able to survive whatever my crisis happens to be at that moment in time.
I have also always admired their relationship with each other. The depth of the love they have for each other is very apparant. I hope and pray that together they can find the strength and courage to pull themselves through one more time.

I remember Nicole as a sweet, passionate high school student, with a dimpled smile that could light up a room. My sincere sympathies to her parents, sister and her entire family for such a loss, on top of what they already had been through 15 years ago. God will give them strength.
